Gardening

The St Margaret’s Allotments Association has over 160 members who garden in the heart of Durham City.

We grow fruit, vegetables and flowers on a large site of over 100 plots.

Lots of our members have a strong interest in organic gardening.

Neat allotment with shed and seating area

Spring

At the allotments we are preparing, planting and protecting young plants.

Summer

The allotments are full of colour and growth.

Late Summer and Autumn

Beans and squash are harvested. Lots of fruit on the apple trees.

Winter

Some vegetables overwinter. Hardy winter veg such as cauliflower, celeriac and parsnips are harvested. We plan for the coming season. Seeds are planted indoors and potatoes are chitted.
