Maintenance update: New gates are on the way!

LOTTERY FUNDED SITE MAINTENANCE WORKS UPDATE

As part of our Lottery Funded works the following work has been commissioned.

PATHS

The Association has commissioned Garden Vision Landscape Contractors to undertake the following works, scheduled for late October, expected to take circa 1 week (specific details and timings will follow):

  • Central Spine path from the main entrance to the Common Plot and from the Common Plot to Margery Lane – the path will be ‘Hoggin’ and widened to 1200m  (geogrid will be installed on slopes, e.g., adjacent to Plot 47).  Garden Vision would replace the very few hedging plants which would be lost by plot 39a.
  • The spur path to the end of plot 24 would also be widened to 1200mm in anticipation of further funding to extend the refurbishment on to Grape Lane.
  • Second Entrance on Margery Lane to base of slope by Plot 73 will be laid in geogrid and the existing concrete at the gate entrance will be replaced.
  • Steps would be avoided and  Garden Vision would use spoil to provide smooth access to plots.

GATES

The Association has commissioned Rob Chatwin at St Margaret’s Centre workshop to make the following gates which will be installed as part of the path works during October

  • Gate to Grape Lane between plots 27 and 37 (South Street Entrance)
  • Gate to Grape Lane between plots 1 and 83
  • Gate to Grape Lane between plots 4 and 3b
  • John Ray (Plot 2a) has also kindly made a gate which will be installed along Grape Lane.
  • QR Code plaques will be attached to all gates and these will provide a link to the website homepage.
