We have been approached by the National Trust who are working on the Durham City Green Corridor project, which is exploring how the green and blue spaces running through Durham can better support local communities, wildlife and heritage. As part of the project, they are gathering ideas from people and organisations across the area about places they value, opportunities for improvement, and ways the project could support existing community initiatives.
St Margaret’s Allotments have been recognised as an important greenspace and the project is seeking input and views from as many people as possible.

David and Paul will be meeting the Trust in the next few weeks to undertake a tour of the Allotments and discuss all our aspirations. They have already mentioned ideas that have been raised through the project which include biodiversity kits for allotments (e.g. wildflower border planting), support with identifying wildlife, and other ways of encouraging biodiversity but are keen to discuss what might be most useful from our perspective.
